The "Dream Life" Myth
Nov 01, 2022 Season 1 Episode 32
Paula Marie

This episode centers around the elusive idea of the "dream ______." Whether it's the "dream job," the "dream partner," or the "dream house," many of us have our hearts set on achieving particular milestones and successes.
The illusion of the *dreamy* life we envision can result in high expectations for our real lives. Sometimes this results in feelings of disappointment, impatience, and sadness.
This episode explores approaching our reality with a more empowered, practical outlook. Instead of fantasizing about dream scenarios of life, perhaps we pay increased attention to the good things getting overlooked. Rather than pursuing the mythical dream life, maybe we learn to accept what is, and nurture the good that already exists.
Of course, every individual's path is unique. We need to use our own judgment to determine what areas of our lives are 'good enough' and what might require real, fundamental change.
The overall message is to consider whether your dream life is setting you up for an expectation hangover. Or on the flip side, is it guiding you to make choices that are more in alignment and satisfying? Everyone's answer will be different, but hopefully this question gets you thinking.
Thank you, as always, for tuning in. Have a pleasant week!
